California Winter League Kicks Off

January 25, 2010

A fresh coat of snow on the surrounding mountains welcomed players from across the country for the inaugural season of the California Winter League. Players began arriving yesterday and today marked the first official day of the league. In the four days leading up to games, players will workout and practice for coaches in preparation for Thursday’s team draft.

League commissioner and former major league Darrell Evans met with the players in the morning to discuss the league and introduce each of the coaches. League owner Andrew Starke also addressed the players, welcoming them to the desert of Palm Springs.

Over the first several days, the players will get settled in the clubhouse and choose their locker for the month.
